BHAG = Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal

Joshua’s BHAG was to conquer the land of Canaan…
Nehemiah’s BHAG was to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem…
David’s BHAG was to kill a big, hairy giant named Goliath…

What big, hairy, audacious goal has God given to ACC???

NOW YOU MAY BE THINKING…
WHY 212?

- Because we strongly desire to reach people with the good news of Christ, to make a major impact on our community. We’re not interested in advancing God’s influence by inches; we want to take chunks of territory by the mile!
- We wanted a number big enough so that our faith would be stretched and our dependence upon God would increase. Our leadership team had originally settled on 200 but someone pointed out that boiling point is 212 and we want the spiritual climate of our church and the surrounding community to reach a boiling point! A little corny, yes – but it works for us!

WHY YOUNG FAMILIES?
- We believe young families are most open and searching in their spiritual journey. As they launch their careers, get married, establish their homes, have babies they want to know how to make their life count and have a real connection with God.
- Though our primary focus is young families – we believe God will help us reach a wide variety of people and we will maintain our awesome intergenerational feel. Single moms, college students, senior citizens, and baby boomers all coming together like a laser beam to reach the next generation for God!

WHY 2012?
- 2012 is far enough away to give us time to plan, pray, develop leaders and grow at a healthy pace.
- 2012 is close enough to create a sense of urgency; we’re going to have to work hard to accomplish the task that God has given us!

Isn’t your BHAG a little too bold and reckless?
- Yes! Thanks for noticing! That is the “A” in BHAG! Audacious means recklessly bold.
- Joshua, Nehemiah and David understood that if it was going to happen God was going to have to show up big time. We understand that too.
